"Songs for Salaam/Shalom" by Bamjimba (World Artist from England)

The most recent release by the talented artist Bamjimba is "Songs for Salaam/Shalom." This album is a single release, of sorts, as it contains 3 different versions of the same song, "Allulam Hadash." This release is one for charity and aimed at giving young Jewish and Muslim listeners music they can both enjoy and dance to. "Allulam Hadash (feat. Michal Nahman)" is a more relaxed version of the song with very enlivened drum lines. "Allulam Hadash (slamdogz Remix)" is a more brooding, spacey, and psychedelic version of the song and contains hallucinatory choir like vocals cascading over the stirring percussion. "Allulam Hadash (special Dj Aka Ak Re-mix)" is still spacey, but with a definite danceable feel to it and has more emphasis on the instrumentation as opposed to the vocals. This release is perfect for those who appreciate music that tries to meld the worlds of Jewish and Muslim listeners. And because the proceeds go to a worthy cause, you can feel good as you dance to Bamjimba's "Songs for Salaam/Shalom."

"Groovechasers Live '05" by The Groovechasers (Jazz Artist from England)

"Groovechasers Live '05" by the tight knit Jazz band, The Groovechasers, is a smooth, live recorded album that gives the listener a full heaping of what this band is all about; good Jazz music. This album contains some classic Jazz standards that The Groovechasers creatively put their own musical style to giving the listener a taste of their quality musicianship and wishing that they were at this concert and planning to attend the next. "All Blues," as the track name implies, is a melodious blues-inspired track with an easy-going overtone that puts one in a state of relaxed and serene bliss. "Dig A Little Deeper" on the other hand is comprised of a lot of rhythmic and melodic diversity. The saxophone dominates this one and rides the harmony with laid-back dexterity. "Bags Groove" is an upbeat, sassy, and timeless tune fit for any Jazz night club with its vibrant and energetic swing feel. If you are someone who appreciates the music of Herbie Hancock or Weather Report, then the CD "Groovechasers Live '05" would be a great addition to your Jazz collection.

"Silent Words" by Thomas Frykberg (Jazz Artist from Sweden)

"Silent Words" by the highly talented artist Thomas Frykberg is an easy listening and elevating Jazz crossover album. Frykberg takes an open-ended approach on the genre with various melodic melodies and the experimentation of different types of percussion to accompany the traditional drum set. "Doniazade" is a very exotic and quintessential jazz track as it employs an interesting melody on the saxophone combined with other inspired timbres and chimes. This track also shows the artist's ability to adapt to changing and various styles all the while keeping it fresh and innovating. Another song, "Celebration Nr 2," is extremely interesting in that the track is played in a classic Jazz style as the sax deftly plays the melody while the subtle African style percussive beats play with fascinating tonality. Frykberg is superb as he incorporates the genre of smooth Jazz with many colorful flavors and textures and the listener is able to get a musical taste of the international world through this album. If you like Jazz music with smooth and relaxed vibes, then "Silent Words" is an album you will thoroughly enjoy.

"Live at the Martin Theater, Vol. 1" by Lucky Mud (Folk Artist from Florida(FL))

Recorded live from the Martin Theater in Panama City (FL) for public radio station WKGC, Lucky Mud's latest CD is a showcase of original contemporary folk music that's pure down-home Americana. With only acoustic guitar backing, husband and wife duo Mike and Maggie McKinney trade off lead vocal duties over the course of 16 songs that range from Mike's beautifully melancholic "Evangeline," to Maggie's wonderful show-closer, "Ride the Pony." Opening with the infectious "Radio Intro," a short ditty for the host station that's a throw-back to old-time live radio programs, Lucky Mud sets the tone for a set long on heartfelt narratives of simple joys and bittersweet truths. Maggie's "Mississippi Queen," with its bluesy refrain, and Mike's "Born to Honky-Tonk," a Jerry Jeff Walker-ish tune complete with yodels, hint at Lucky Mud's musical reach, but it's the duo's milk-and-honey harmonies – as on the aching ballad, "Silver Spoon" – that wraps their sound up into one neat package. Presumably the 1st of a series, Lucky Mud's "Live at the Martin Theater, Vol. 1" CD is a terrific mix of tuneful and meaningful folk songs as rich as the American musical traditions they reflect.

"Aurora" by Spiker (Electronic Artist from Czechoslovakia)

"Aurora" is the latest release from Spiker. It is a collection of genial and calm electronic compositions for creating a relaxed atmosphere. "Sunup" is a song in which a subdued drum rhythm interacts with a frolicking flute line. "Butterfly" is a tune that has an electro-Latin feel and features a female vocalist crooning softly. "Bearer" is a little bit more energized, with spacey piano sounds and a briskly stuttering drum beat. This is an album that blurs many genres of music into a seamless collection of electronic music that soothes as much as it inspires.
